Options for Hauling Bikes and a nuCamp T@G Trailer

Updated 07/09/2024 | Published 06/29/2024

Question:

We have a hidden hitch extra super long 80232 ball mount to tow our nucamp T@G trailer. We want to use a hitch mounted bike rack and added the Malone double hitch receiver to the set-up. our trailer tongue is pretty short and we are having trouble getting enough clearance between the bikes/bike rack and the trailer to handle tight turns without the bikes/bike rack hitting the trailer tool chest which is mounted in the tongue area. Do you know of any ball mounts that are longer than the 80232, or any dual hitch receivers where the bottom receiver which is what we would use for towing the RV is longer than the top receiver for the bike rack?

Hey Sharlene, thanks for reaching out!

I have a few options for you to look at, but ultimately there aren't any ball mounts that sit further out and have a receiver on top of them with enough clearance for your bike rack.

The first option would be to use the Gen-Y Replacement Shank # 325-GH-304 which gives you the ability to hold the bike rack up a little over 6" above the ball mount itself.

The second option is to use the Lets Go Aero Jack-It PLUS Bike Rack # LGA47ZR which mounts in the same place as your tongue jack and holds the bikes directly above the tongue. The only potential problem with this system is if your tongue jack is a manual with a topwind handle - if it's a sidewind handle though this can still work.

Attached are some review videos for you to check out.
