Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Module Fault on 2022 Ford F-350 with Factory Controller
Published 07/18/2023 >
Question:
I recently started getting a Trailer Brake Module Fault message even without a trailer connected. Also, when I squeeze the built in trailer brake controller it sends a message saying Trailer Disconnected. All the fuses looked to be in order as well. When I hooked up a couple different trailers the lights all work fine but the brakes dont work at all. Any ideas? This is on a 2022 F350. Thanks

It sounds like you may have a short in the wiring on your 2022 Ford F-350. You can use a Multimeter # PT29ZR to check this at your 7-way by checking for continuity with the brake wire and any other wire on the 7-way. You can see the terminals in the image below. As this is a factory controller I do recommend checking with your local dealer as well to determine if there is any required re-flashes needed for the factory controller.
