How To Remove Motor on Kwikee 24/25 Series Electric Steps

Question:

I’m trying to replace the motor for my steps. I know it’s an easy process normally but my issue is I can’t remove the screws/bolts holding the motor to the gear plate. One bolt has a nut that I could reach and remove, so that one was not a problem. The other two bolts act as tho they are stripped. I can’t feel or see a nut on those and the motor feels securely held to the gear plate, but I can’t figure out how to remove these screws. In the pictures I’m trying to show how the motor is attached to the gear plate. Also a pic of the new motor. Thanks for any help you give.

It looks like you have a Kwikee 24/25 Series Electric Step. In which case, if you need a new motor you'd actually want to go with the Replacement Motor with Gear and Table for Kwikee 24 and 25 Series Electric RV Steps part # LC369529. You can't access the nuts which hold the motor in place without first removing the table as the nuts are hidden behind this. Therefore, you'll need to remove the entire table and replace the complete assembly. I have attached for you below the write-up from the manufacturer for this process.

You mentioned to replace the whole motor table for the Kwikee 25. Why can’t just the motor be replaced?

@Rich To get the motor off you'll have to remove the table assembly for access to the mounting bolts. You could still keep your assembly if it's in decent shape and just replace the motor with part # LC369506. If it's rusted out and binding up then you can replace the motor and table assembly with part # LC369529
