Troubleshooting A Hollywood Racks Anti-Rattle Lever That Faces Down

Question:

Issue with the rack staying stationary while driving. Have attempted to tighten and reinforce. Keeps ping down to the same position. When I tighten the rack into the receptacle I can’t get the handle to point in a horizontal direction. It always points down I loosen it and retighten with same result. The result is that the handle is much more likely to hit the ground Am I going something wrong so that it always points down? Any suggestions would be appreciated

To change the end position of the anti-rattle lever you would need to remove the rack from your hitch and turn the lever to a new starting position. This is a common occurrence for Hollywood Racks Bike racks like the # HLY84FR and unfortunately is the only way to adjust the handle to not end in a downward facing position.

Hi Kevin, My anti-rattle lever always faces down when tightened. I read you explanation: "...you would need to remove the rack from your hitch and turn the lever to a new starting position." I don't understand this. What to you mean by "turn the lever to a new starting position" ? Unless you unscrew the lever off completely, won't it just end up in the same place facing down? Please explain in greater detail. Thank you, Adam

@Adam That tip was directly from the manufacturer. Essentially there's slots in the threads so that it can start threaded into the rack at different positions which would allow you to change the ending point by starting at different point than you were previously.
