Troubleshooting A MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent That Shuts Off At High Speeds

Question:

I had issues with the Maxxfan 4000K not starting with the green light beeping and flashing.... I just replaced the circuit board .... Now it runs, but turns off and blinks when its in a fast speed setting... stays good up to the third speed, once I go to the fast speed it shuts down. Either direction of fan does not matter. Any ideas what I do next?

I recommend first checking the power coming to your MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat - Manual Lift - 10 Speed - White # MA00-04000K, it will need to be 12v. If it's not receiving 12v then you could need to increase the wire gauge running to it to negate any potential voltage drop off.

If it's receiving the correct amount of power then I would disconnect the power and remove the circuit board for a few minutes for it to reset and then reinstall the board and power. If it continues to cause issues then you could have a defective circuit board or rain sensor which is causing the board to think it's raining and forcing it to shut down.

The correct replacement board for the # MA00-04000K is the Replacement Printed Circuit Board for MaxxAir Manual Lift RV Roof Vents # MA10A21276K, which I can see is the one you ordered. I'd lean more to the rain sensor or circuit board being defective.

Thank you for the advice.... do you have a part number for the rain sensor, or is that part of the circuit board that I have already replaced... I waited months for the new circuit board and really hope it dosnt need to be replaced.

Hey Les D. That rain sensor is not used on my Maxxfan 4000k. I have manual lid operation. Not auto . No sensor from what I can tell. any other idea why this would shut off at the third speed of the fan? Thanks for your input. Ps. I just replaced the circuit board.

I reached out to the manufacturer and they said that when the fan fails at the third speed setting, this is usually a result of the fan returning a false amperage level to the circuit board which in turns shuts the system off. The replacement fan motor for a Maxxfan 4000K is #MA10-20968.
