Recommended Kayak Carrier For a 14' Fishing Kayak On a 5' X 8' Carry On Utility Trailer
Question:
Hello. I purchased a 5x8 carry on utility trailer. I would like to extend the tongue so I can transport my 14 foot fishing kayak. What is the best way to go about that? Do you have a suggestion for a rack I can install for the kayak as well? Thank you.

I recommend using the Malone TopTier Load Bar Kit for Utility Trailers # MPG493. This will allow you to mount the kayak on the Malone SeaWing Kayak Carrier # MPG107MD. This will place the kayak above your trailers rear gate giving you more clearance since the kayak will be able to hang behind the loading ramp.
With this setup you should not need a hitch extender as the 8' bed of the trailer will position the kayak to stick 3' beyond the bed to the front and rear of the trailer. Your 5x8 Carry On utility trailer has a 4' tongue so you will still have 1' of clearance to the coupler.
