4"-7" Hitch Extension for Towing a Travel Trailer of 6,000lbs

Question:

Hello, Looking for a 2” diameter 4 to 7 inches in length to haul a 6000lb travel trailer snd 600lb tongue weight. Four inch long extension would work. I’m having trouble finding one. Thanks

I have a few choices for you to consider but will depend on how you are towing your travel trailer.

First the Hitch Extender # HE06 is a 7" extension. If you are using a weight distribution hitch this will allow you up to 7,000lbs of towing capacity and 700lbs of tongue weight, or 50% of the rated hitch capacity on your tow vehicle, whichever is lower.

If you are using a weight distribution hitch you might prefer a longer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4500. This shank has an 18" length which is roughly 6" longer than most of the ones included on different weight distribution hitches. It is designed for weight distribution hitches up to 1,400lbs of tongue weight. If you let me know exactly what hitch you have I can get you the correct one for your application.

Finally if you are using a traditional ball mount a Brophy Ball Mount # BH20 has a bolt hole to receiver pin length of 13-1/4" which is about 5" longer than a standard 8" ball mount. It has a weight rating of 10,000lbs towing and 1,000lbs of tongue weight.
