Smallest Diameter Tire for 6-Lug Wheels
Question:
I have a trailer that I need to lower by 4-5 inches to get inside my garage in the winter. The trailer has 6 lug custom rims with GY 235/85 R16 tires and their diameter is 32 inches across. I would remove existing tires and rims and install a cheap tire and rim to allow clearance under the bay door to store trailer inside. Can you size a rim and tire which would lower my trailer at least 4 inches. Cheap Tires to be only used for storage and not for use on a road. Thanks

The smallest diameter wheel/tire we offer for the 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern is a 205/75-15 which measures 27.17" diameter fully inflated. If you deflate the tires you could then lose about an inch or so. Therefore, if you take the diameter of the tires you have now (235/85-16 = 31.7") and subtract from this the above figure minus an inch for inflation then you can see how much the trailer will lower. Keep in mind, you'll only see half of the difference between the above figures.
For a 205/75-15, the most cost-effective option is the Provider ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire with 15" Vesper White Spoke Wheel part # TA23MR.
