Question:
Hi, I will be installing this hitch on my Pathfinder, soon, and I have a concern about the the attachment bolts, not having a nut to unify them. I was thinking of using thread lock gel of some strength to secure them. Your thought would be appreciated. I certainly will torque them properly, but still a little nervous. Thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Curt Class III trailer hitch for your Pathfinder, part # C13126 would utilize nuts that are welded up into the frame member. The conical toothed washers used in the installation do a good job of maintaining the torque applied to the bolt during installation, so threadlocker like # LT37420 isn't necessary although using it won't cause any harm.
If you decide to use threadlocker, and you decide at some point in the future to remove the hitch you'll want to remember to apply heat to the bolts before attempting to loosen them otherwise you could break off the nuts welded into the frame making removal more difficult.
I've linked you to an install video showing the hitch you'd looked at being installed on a 2015 Pathfinder.
