Determining Towing Capacity and Parts Needed to Tow Trailer with 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Hello etrailer team, Im interested in getting the C13427 for my 2020 Hyundai Palisade, and in towing a 4,100 pound trailer with a 410lb tongue weight. The Hyundai Manual states a 351 tongue weight, while I am able to read that the Curt has a 750 Max capacity. Its a little confusing because in the next page of the manual it recommends to have a 10-15 load on the tongue to maintain a stable towing setup, so if you are towing close to the 5,000lb max limit, that means you should be at a 500lb tongue weight. I also plan on using a weight distribution setup as well. Would I be within the manufacturers specifications if I get the C13427? Thanks

When determining your actual towing capacity it is important to remember that you are always limited by your setup's weakest link. I wasn't able to pull up an online version of the owner's manual for your 2020 Hyundai Palisade to verify, but if your copy lists a tongue weight capacity of 351 pounds this is the number you need to follow, regardless of the vehicle's overall towing limit or any capacities for aftermarket products installed such as the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch # C13427 that you mentioned.
I certainly understand your confusion, especially when it comes to this lower limit in relation to the 5,000 pound towing capacity for your Palisade, which as you referenced doesn't really line up. You may want to verify the 351 pound tongue weight capacity with a local Hyundai dealer as well. They should be able to confirm this or provide some additional information based on the VIN.
If you find out that the tongue weight capacity is actually higher, or you decide on a lighter trailer, the Curt # C13427 will still work perfectly as a trailer hitch. It will line right up to existing holes in the frame of your Palisade for a simple no-drill install. I have attached the written installation instructions that you can look through as well.
To tow a trailer you will also need a wiring harness and ball mount/hitch ball combo.
For a wiring harness I recommend the Curt T-Connector # CU94FR. This custom harness will plug into a factory port under the vehicle on the driver's side for a plug-and-play install. It will provide you with a 4-Way connector to connect with and power a trailer's basic signal lights.
If the trailer is equipped with electric brakes, I recommend using the Wiring Kit # ETBC7L to upgrade it to a 7-Way and the Curt Echo Brake Controller # C51180 to automatically power those brakes. The Echo simply plugs into the 7-Way and pairs to your smartphone via Bluetooth for a simple setup and easily transferable unit. I have attached a short video demonstration that you can check out.
