Can the Reese Revolution Pin Box on a Forest River Rockwood Signature 5th Wheel Be Replaced

Question:
I just bought a 2019 F350 short bed with the puck system installed. I also have a Forest River Rockwood Signature 8259ws. This comes with a Reese revolution which I am not impressed with and cannot swap out as the mounts are specific to this pin box only. Even with the lock out plate I get movement on the hitch that is jarring and frankly scary at times. I thought about locking the hitch out and running a slider but the pin box length is more than half the distance to the box of my truck so I would not be able to get 90 degrees before the pin box made contact with the side of my bed. Seems I have no option other than to run the revolution in the unlocked mode and run a standard fixed hitch. What are your thoughts? I have spent a few thousand with you guys already and appreciate the great support!

The Reese Revolution Pin Box on your Forest River Rockwood Signature 5th Wheel should be able to be replaced. I am aware there are different bolt patterns for pin boxes so you do need to be careful when choosing a replacement but nonetheless this can still be done. I am almost certain your trailer uses a Lippert 1621 wing set in which case you could go with the Trailair Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box part # LC328492 for replacement. Then for a 5th wheel hitch, the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider part # DM8550024 would be a wise choice. In order to confirm you have the Lippert 1621 wing set just read me the pin box number or take a look at the attached article which requires measuring.
If there is some sort of anomaly with your pin box and it can indeed not be replaced then the best option is to just use the Reese Revolution and pair it with the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ford Super Duty Prep Package part # BWRVK3305 as this hitch has the tightest grip on the kingpin of any other option we have which will then decrease the jarring issues you are having tenfold.
