Trailer Tire Recommendation with Smaller Diameter than 225/75-15 Fits Same Wheel
Published 09/08/2019 >
Question:
I have ST225/75R15 tires on my new trailer castle rock which are total junk tires out of round. I would like to get replacements that are lower profile to lower my trailer deck a little but cant find any - seems like they only come in profile 75. Why? Can’t believe I’m the only person who needs a low-profile trailer tire. Need load range D at least.

There is a smaller diameter trailer tire that will fit the rims you have in place of the 225/75-15 that you have now. The size you have now has an overall diameter of 28.4 inches and the size 205/75-15 has a diameter of 27.1 inches. The 75 you mentioned is the percent of the section width that ends up as sidewall height. So while both sizes have an aspect ratio of 75 the 75 percent of 225 is larger than of 205. For more info on this I attached a help article that covers how to determine tire diameter.
The best tire in the 205 size is the Taskmaster Provider part # TR20515D which has a speed rating of 81MPH. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.
