Recommended Trailer to Carry 16 Foot Canoe

Can the Yak trailer allow hull DOWN carry; I prefer that as I won’t have to flip the canoe by myself.

You are absolutely right that for your 16-1/2 foot canoe the best option is a trailer because this is going to make it much, much simpler for you to haul your canoe; you'll be able to spend a lot more time in the water and a lot less time loading and unloading your canoe.
I highly recommend the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08106 because it is essentially a roof rack on wheels and has a low loading height to make it easy to take your canoe on and off. Aside from this, one of the best things about the Rack and Roll is that it has shocks on the wheels, which is important because not only does it cushion the ride, keeping your canoe safe, it also makes the trailer much easier to tow because it won't be bouncing up and down the whole ride.
The Rack and Roll # Y08106 has 66 inch crossbars though is is also available with 78 inch crossbars # Y08107 if you wanted to haul additional gear like a large cargo box and needed extra space on the bars. The only thing you will need to add to the trailer is a canoe carrier, and I recommend the Yakima KeelOver Canoe Carrier with Tie-Downs # Y04069.
