Best Ways To Raise a Trailer for More Tire Clearance
Question:
Hi, I am looking to get more height space between the tire and the wheel well out of my travel trailer, can i flip the shackles so they are opposite of the way they are now, to gain more room? All the videos and pictures show the shackles installed in the up position, what kind of issues would I possibly encounter if I flip them? Right now I get some tire rub on the upper wheel well. Thanks

I have two options for you to raise your trailer and gain more clearance between the fender and tire. The most cost effective option would be to flip the axles with a Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Kit part # K71-384-00 or part # K71-385-00. That said, this option will only work if your axles are above the leaf springs. If your axles are not above the leaf springs then your only other option would be to use the Tandem Axle Lift Kit part # RR23QX.
I am not really sure what you mean by flipping the shackles but I am not aware of any way to raise a trailer by altering the shackle straps nor do I think it is a good idea.
