Trouble Latching the Locking Jaws on the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch
Question:
Hello guys, I have this set up and have struggled with getting it to latch so far. I have greased the thing until it coming out everywhere. Even when I back into it with a little force it will not latch. If I keep forcing it somethings going to give, hopefully not my should or elbow. Any tips?

I spoke to my contact at Curt about the issue you are having with the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package part # C16520-16021 and they said it sounds like the trailer may be a bit too high. When you are reversing the tow vehicle into the trailer you want the bottom of the pin box to hit the top of the skid plate on the 5th wheel hitch at the very front. The trailer should then raise up as you further back the tow vehicle into the trailer. If you are too high on the trailer then the jaws do not have enough grip on the kingpin to latch onto.
Please try to lower the trailer a bit and let me know if that works for you. If you are using a lube plate I would try to couple the trailer without this as a thick lube plate could also be causing this issue.
