Choosing Between the CIPA and K-Source Universal Towing Mirrors for a 2008 Ford Expedition

Question:

Looks like the primary options for tow mirrors for my expedition are the universal CIPA and the K-Source. According to several reviews the CIPAs apparently tend to blow off. Would you recommend the K-Sources for this reason? Thanks.

Although I have not heard of the CIPA Universal Fit Towing Mirror CIPA Universal Towing Mirrors part # CM11980-2 blowing off when attached properly I can say that the K-Source Universal Towing Mirrors part # KS3891-2 are a much more secure option. The reason for this is that they have two large straps which go around the whole backside of the mirror as opposed to using clamps on the top lip.

The main advantage that the CIPA Universal Fit Towing Mirror CIPA Universal Towing Mirrors have is that they are a bit easier to install and tend to look more streamline but the K-Source Universal Towing Mirrors are by far the most secure option. The straps are also very adjustable so you can also get the best fit possible.

The K-Source Universal Towing Mirrors are very popular among Expedition owner's because there are no custom fit options for this vehicle. I have attached an install photo for you.
