Question:
Hi, I was wondering if I can use marine grease for both my boat trailer and utility trailer. I’d prefer to have one grease gun using the same grease for both rather than have to buy another just for the utility. I would think that putting marine in the utility would be slightly better than regular grease considering it would protect even better against water intrusion. It’s just a small single axle utility that doesn’t get a lot of miles a year.

Yes, you can use marine wheel bearing grease in both your boat and utility trailer. It will not hurt anything at all to use marine wheel bearing grease in your utility trailer. The only real difference between the two greases is that the marine wheel bearing grease is much more hydrophobic so it repels water more effectively. However, marine wheel bearing grease is typically less cost effective than just standard wheel bearing grease which is why everyone just doesn't use marine wheel bearing grease for added protection.
Please note that not all greases are compatible with one another so if you will be switching to a new type/brand then you will want to empty out the bearings and then repack them with the new grease you will be using on both trailers. I personally really like the LubriMatic Marine Trailer Wheel Bearing Grease. This is offered in both 3 oz cartridges like part # L54FR and or 14 oz cartridges like part # L11402. We then have the Mini Grease Gun part # 30-800 that you can use with the 3 oz cartridges for maintenance and the Powerbuilt Deluxe Bearing Packer part # ALL647646 to repack your bearings with the new marine wheel bearing grease.
