How Does Anti-Sway Feature for Trailer in New Ford Trucks Work

Question:

Just bought a 2019 F-150 V-8. We will be towing a 23 ft Trailer about 5,500 lbs. Exactly how does the anti sway work? I understand , how it applies braking to the truck but one video I watched stated that the controller also sends signals to the electric brakes on the trailer. Is this correct? We previously pulled a 20 ft trailer about 3,000 lbs with a 2012 F-150 and never had any sway problems

Some newer trucks have an anti-trailer sway feature that basically uses sensors designed to detect sway and then apply the trailer brakes at the correct time and intensity to stop the sway. One easy trick to do this with a brake controller is to slide the manual override of the control every time the trailer starts to sway. The brakes basically pull the trailer back which stops the sway.

We have the Tuson part # 335TSC-1000 which installs on the trailer and does the same thing.

Most of the time sway is due to towing a trailer with not enough tongue weight relative to the total trailer weight. You need the tongue weight to be 10 to 15 percent of the total trailer weight to prevent this type of sway.
