Your 2017 Dodge Journey is one of the vehicles for which two types of hitch are made, both a smaller 1-1/4-inch Class II hitch and a 2-inch Class III. In such cases we always recommend the 2-inch option since it will be compatible with more hitch-mount accessories and because it will offer a higher weight rating without much more additional cost.
The Class III hitch I recommend for your Journey AWD is the etrailer # e98845 because it will offer easier installation than others and because it is USA-made. The other good option is the Draw-Tite hitch # 75648. Both offer no-drill installation.
Both of these hitches will have a visible cross tube under the bumper. If you are looking for the most cosmetically neutral hitch, without the cross tube showing, then the better option is the Draw-Tite model # 76225. Do note that the installation for this hitch is a lot more involved since more parts of the vehicle need to be removed temporarily to allow mounting it. If it were my car I would get the etrailer hitch # e98845. Just the same I have linked photos of both hitches installed so you can decide if the concealed cross tube matters enough to go through the more involved installation.
If your intended application for the hitch is a hitch-mount bike rack like the Thule EasyFold # TH903202 then you're all set, but if you intend to do some light-duty towing within the car's rated capacities then you will also need a wiring harness (if the trailer has lights). For that you can use # 118567 if the car has standard incandescent bulbs or part # 118536 if it has LED type tail lights. Towing also requires a ball mount, hitch ball, and hitch pin so you might care to consider the Ball Mount Kit # 989900.
If I can help with anything else please let me know. If not the linked articles on hitch installation and towing may be of interest.
