Timbrens Vs SumoSprings for a 2017 Ram 1500
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I have a 2017 Ram 1500 with coil springs on the rear. I noticed that the Sumo SSR-307-47 spring has a 1500 lb capacity vs 8600 lb capacity on the Timbren TDR1500DQ. My question is if I load my truck with 1500 lbs will the truck sag about the same, or will the higher lb rated Timbren keep it from sagging less? I have had the Timbren on other trucks and loved them, but am considering the Sumo to eliminate the bump affect you get going over bumps as the harder Timbren hits the stop. Or am I jumping to conclusions that the Sumo doesnt have that problem?

If you were to place 1,500 lbs into the bed of your 2017 Ram 1500, you would experience less squat using the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # TDR1500DQ than the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-307-47. However, as you mentioned the benefit of the SumoSprings is that they don't produce as harsh of a ride. The Timbrens are made of a much denser rubber than the SumoSprings which means they will provide more support but less ride comfort.
It really just comes down to how often you will be towing/hauling and how heavy of load you will have. I recommend using the SumoSprings for occasional towing/hauling or the Timbrens for frequently towing/hauling.

If you infrequently pull your trailer and yet want the benefit of the Timbrens, would it make sense to simply install them when you are traveling and replace them with the stock bump stocks when you return? Or does this not make any sense? Thanks.
