Question:
Hello, Can a Carson Trailer car hauler with 3,500# tandem axles 95inch WMS to WMS and 15inch tires be upgraded to 5,200# axles with 16inch tires, with new springs and hardware? Issues are that 1 keep blowing tires and 2 tail on trailer drags everywhere. Thanks,

It's definitely possible to upgrade a trailer's axle rating to a higher rating by just swapping the axles. To pick out the correct axle you'll need to measure the distance between the hub faces and the spring seat centers and you'll know which will fit as a replacement. For example we have the # 6340624-EB which has a distance of 95 inches from face to face and 80 inches between the spring seats. Then for a wheel and tire that would fit that axle we have the part # TA59VR which would fit and work well.
You should note that upgrading the axle capacity does not alway give you more trailer weight capacity as it's not always the axle that is the lowest rated component.

Hey Jameson, with a 35 inch center to center tandem set up, is it possible to go to 16 inch tire/wheel package?

if you swap out the axles from 3,500 to 5200 what would be the lowest rated component that would make the rating not increase? The reason I even looked at this is because I wanted to know could I get rid of torsion axles and replace them with regular leaf spring axles
