Question:

How high does the coupler sit when the trailer is level? Ive installed a Draw-Tite class 3 hitch Item #76138 on a 2018 Mazda CX-5 and need to know which ball mount I need to tow this trailer.

I spoke with my contact at Malone who said that the coupler height of the Malone MicroSportXT Trailer # MPG460XT is 15".

When we installed the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76138 on a 2017 Mazda CX-5 the coupler height (from the ground to the top of the inside of the receiver) measured 13". If this is the case with your 2018 model then that means you will need a ball mount with a 2" rise. The Curt Fusion Ball Mount # C45155 is a great option as it has a 2-1/4" rise (the extra 1/4" is fine) and it comes with a 2" hitch ball and a pin and clip.

You may also be interested in a lock like part # 1480DAT for just the ball mount or a kit like part # 3794DAT which allows you to lock your trailer to your ball mount and add a lock to the coupler when not in use.

Lastly, if you don't already have a wiring kit installed on your CX-5 to activate your trailer lights I recommend the Tekonsha T-One # 118746. I will simply connect to your vehicle behind the tail lights and then draw power directly from the battery once installed.
