When determining what rise/drop to use on a B&W Tow & Stow, it is important that your trailer connection is as level as possible. The first thing you need to do is measure the height of your hitch receiver from level ground to the top inner tube of the receiver opening. The next step of the process is to measure from level ground to the bottom of the coupler or shank of the item you wish to tow. With this information, you can determine the rise/drop you need with this following formula: Hitch Height (A) - Coupler Height (B) = Rise/Drop (C). I went ahead and attached a picture to guide you in making your measurements.
Here are a couple examples of possible measurements:
- (15" Hitch Height) - (10" Coupler Height) = (5" Drop Needed)
- (12" Hitch Height) - (13" Coupler Height) = (1" Rise Needed)
Each B&W Stow and Tow has a different maximum rise and drop. For example, the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch # BWTS10033B has a maximum rise of 3-1/2 inches and a maximum drop of 3 inches with a 1-inch height increment. Also, it is important to note what ball size you need. The # BWTS10033B has a 2" ball and a 2-5/16" ball.
It is also important to get the Tow & Stow has the correct weight capacity you need. The weight of your cargo should not exceed the weight rating of the ball mount.
Feel free to respond with the rise/drop measurements and your weight needs, and I will be happy to get you the right Tow & Stow that works for you.
