How Does Enclosed Trailer Vent Keep Rain Out of Trailer?
Question:
I have a 7 by 16 foot enclosed Forest River trailer that I want to put sidewall vents on. I read in a comment on your website that they recommend to put one in the front of the trailer facing forwards and one in the back of the trailer facing rearward to allow a ram air effect in the front and exhaust out of the back. I want to do this on both sides of my trailer but my question is what stops rain from getting inside the walls or inside the trailer while driving down the road?

The enclosed trailer vents we offer are designed to keep the rain out and the best option would be the 2-Piece Side Vent for Enclosed Trailers # 9139. As you can see from the accompanying photo the exterior piece is angled to keep rainwater out and it also has an interior baffle that will direct rainwater to drain holes in the corner of the vent. The butterfly vent also allows you to close it if you'd like. To install this vent you will need 20 screws and four #10/32 machine screws as well as sealant # 0160297. If your walls are up to 1/2 inch thick you will need #10/32 machine screws # 29515.
The other option for a wall vent would be 2-Piece Polypropylene Trailer Vent # HMAV2-AVT2 (black) or # WHMAV2-WAVT2 (white). This half-moon vent also has drain holes in the corners for any rainwater that might get in the vent.
I've added links to video reviews on this for you to take a look at as well.
