Recommended 2016 Dodge Durango RT Trailer Hitch Receiver Behind Bumper Cover
Question:
I was looking at Draw Tite part # 76196 for my 2016 Durango RT. I cant tell where the wiring harness is mounted. Does the factory bubble cover fit over this hitch? Do you sell the factory bubble cover?

Expert Reply:
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # DT38MR is a confirmed fit for your 2016 Dodge Durango RT. The receiver will fit behind the factory fascia and it will need to be trimmed for access to hitch and wiring. We do not carry the bubble cover you mentioned.
For your vehicle wiring, I recommend the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness w Brake Controller Adapter - 7 Way Trailer Connector # TK22113. This will allow you to simply connect a brake controller like # 90195 once installed. This harness will give you a wiring package similar to the factory wiring package. I've attached a video to assist. If you just want a 4 way trailer connection, then I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118617. The wiring connector can be mounted close to your hitch receiver using the mounting bracket # PK12711U.
For a ball mount, I recommend an adjustable mount to account for the drop needed. I've attached a link to your options and have also attached an article to assist.
