Question:
I thought the cable shipped with this unit is specifically made for factory installed towing kits. I got such on my 2003 Ford Explorer V8 Eddiebauer, but the cable doesnt fit any plug I have under the dash. I got one free plug, its trapeze shaped about 1.5 on top, 1.25 on bottom, and 0.5 high. Any advice? Should I take the unit to an installer? Thanks

The Tekonsha Wiring Harness, part # 3035-P is the correct harness for a 2003 Ford Explorer with a factory tow package with a 7-Way trailer connector. The # 3035-P harness will plug into the factory brake controller port located behind the glove box.
Open the glove box completely, you will need to push in the stops on the side of the glove box to do this. It is located on the left side of the opening, slightly above the opening. It is taped to another wire bundle. It will be a 6-pin connector that will mate with the connector on the end of the # 3035-P harness.
