Question:
Hi! I have a 2007 Mazda 5, and was interested in an easy to use light trunk carrier. Could you tell me the weights of the Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier - Trunk Mount - Item # TH910XT, and the 3 Bike version,...the Thule Passage 3 Bike Carrier - Trunk Mount - Item # TH911XT? I think I would mainly use it for 1-2 bikes, but if the 3-bike version is not much heavier or any harder to put on\off the car, I may opt for that one. Thanks!

You've made a great choice! The Thule Passage trunk-mounted bike carriers are very popular because the smart FitDial system makes them quick and easy to install. The two sizes are very close in weight. The Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier # TH910XT has a shipping weight 12 lb and the Passage 3 Bike Carrier, # TH911XT has a shipping weight of 13 lb. Since the weights are so similar, I recommend going with the 3 bike version to give you maximum versatility. When only carrying one bike, you'll want to load it in the location closest to the vehicle.
When installing the Passage 3, the lower arm of the carrier should be positioned on the upper tier of the bumper. Place the top clips in the gap at the front edge of the top of the trunk or hatch, and place the lower clips in the bottom edge of the trunk or hatch. The FitDial will be set to 10.
I've attached a photo and a video of the Passage 2 being installed on a 2012 Mazda 5 so that you can see how it will look when installed.
For women's and children's bikes, you may need an adapter bar like Thule's # TH982XT or Swagman's # 64005.
