Troubleshooting Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller Not Turning On Inside Ram 1500
Question:
Hello, I have the Tekonsha p36. We only use our trailer a couple times a year. When I went to hook everything up today, the unit wont power on. Is there any sort of reset command? Fuses look good. The truck is a 2015 Dodge 1500 and I am not seeing any issues with internal lights etc, so I presuming the harness is ok, although i dont have a way to test it. Do you know where I should go next in troubleshooting?

If your Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 is not powering on, I recommend checking again for any damaged/blown fuses or relays under the hood of your truck. Check specifically for the brake controller fuse, which should be a 30 amp pink fuse located in the F11 cavity inside the power distribution center on your 2015 Ram 1500.
I also recommend testing the brake controller plug/harness under your dash with a circuit tester like # PTW2993. Test the pin that the black wire from the brake controller attaches to for power. If you do not receive 12 volts, then there is an issue with the harness or factory wiring.
If you are unable to resolve this, please let me know and I will be happy to look into this further.
