Service Trailer Brakes Message on Truck After Breakaway Cable Pulled
Question:
Our break away cable snagged and unplugged. We plugged it back in and the breaks have released but now my trucks breaker is saying service trailer break system

The "Service Trailer Brakes" message you are seeing will sometimes appear after the breakaway plug is pulled because the breakaway battery will send voltage back up the brake controller wire.
A simple fix is simply disconnecting your truck from the trailer. You will then disconnect the battery on your breakaway system, then insert the pin and reconnect the breakaway battery. After connecting your truck again, this should hopefully clear the error message.
If you still have the message after doing this, you will likely need to take your truck to a local dealer to have the message cleared.
