Trailer Wiring and Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2017 Honda Pilot

Question:

The info on the wiring was very helpful. I will be purchasing one from you in the spring. Do you have an opinion on the 2 brands of hitches you offer for the Pilot?? They both look comparable and the prices are almost the same.

Actually all of the 2017 Honda Pilots are going to be pre-wired for trailer wiring so all you would need is the part # 118760 which will plug right in like in the video link I attached.

The Curt Hitch part # C13146 and the Draw Tite part # 75225 are both great options for your Pilot. I would go with the Draw Tite though as it has a better price and a built in trailer wiring bracket.

if I buy the 7 way connector, will the 12 volt power to the trailer be enough to keep a small refrigerator operating? Will the draw tite 75225 still work with a full size spare tire? and do you have a video of the installation?

This depends a lot on the actual power draw of your refrigerator, but I would say there's a decent chance the 12V circuit on your Pilot once installing the Tekonsha # 118286 likely won't be enough to reliably power it. Adding an on-board charger like the Redarc # 331-BCDC1225D will be your best solution for this kind of setup. The Draw-Tite # 75225 will only fit with the spare if it's the 18" or smaller rim. Anything larger will not fit - this is actually the case for any of the hitches available for your Pilot.
