Question:
Please explain the difference between Parts #s 87719 and 13389? Why is the hitch # 13389 listed as much easier install than 87719? Is 87719 made to resist corrosion better than 13389? Are these both load equalizing hitches?

Expert Reply:
Both the Curt # 13389 and the Draw-Tite # 75305 are confirmed fits for your 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan with Stow-N-Go seating and both share the same tongue weight (TW) and gross trailer weight (GTW) ratings of 350-lbs and 3500-lbs. If used with a weight distribution system both hitches' capacities increase to 400-lbs TW and 4000-lbs GTW.
The installation difficulty ratings for these two hitches differ really only because those ratings are determined by each manufacturer and there is some subjectivity involved. Our installers have found that the Curt hitch is slightly easier to get into position, but this will not be a dramatic difference since all hitches install at exactly the same mounting points on the vehicle frame. The linked video may be helpful to you.
All hitches made today share the same type of baked-on black powder coat finish for corrosion resistance. The finish's durability will be essentially identical across brands but our installers have found that Curt tends to put a heavier coating on their hitches. This might lead to a longer-lasting finish but at the same time this may make the fit a little bit tighter in some instances.
Both hitches install with included hardware, require no drilling and carry limited lifetime warranties.
