Can You Back Up with a Blue Ox Weight Distribution System

Question:

Im thinking about getting the Blue Ox Sway Pro Weight Distribution w Stabilizer hitch. Ive never used a wt. distribution hitch before . It says you can back up with this. How sharp of a turn can you make in reverse with this system?

With weight distribution systems you can't really make tight turns while backing up. What we recommend is that if you are basically backing up in a straight line you can leave the spring bars on the system. But if you think you will end up jackknifing the trailer pretty tight while backing up you would need to disconnect the bars.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
