Trailer Lights Not Working After Installing Wiring Harness on 2012 Honda Pilot
Question:
Hi, I purchased this part for my Honda Pilot 2012 and followed the very good instructions sent. However, I am not getting any of the trailer lights to come on after everything is hooked up. Any suggestions on what to check? Ive gone over the installation and everything is connected properly so Im at a loss. Any help is appreciated.

It is possible that on your 2012 Honda Pilot there is a factory fuse or relay that ordinarily is present but for whatever reason is not present on your model. Check the owners manual for all fuse and relay locations that might be related to the tow package wiring to see if any are missing or blown.
Also, make sure the in line fuses, not the loose ones, are installed in the jumper harness and are not blown.
I have included a link to a help article that explains how to test a vehicle side trailer connector. It is possible that the harness is getting power but a problem on the trailer is preventing the lights from working.
On some trailers, the trailer has to be coupled to the ball to complete the electrical circuit (grounding through the ball). This actually indicates a bad ground on the trailer so if the lights start working with the trailer coupled to a ball you will want to check the main trailer connector ground and make sure it is attached to a clean and corrosion free bare metal surface.
