Can Rhino Rack Hanging Rack Carry a Trek Verve 3

Question:

I like both the Rhino-Rack-2-bike rack-2hitch-tilting, will it hold my Trek Verve 3 road bike? Do you sell locks for both the rack and the bike? How does this hook up to my 2 trailer hitch- with a bolt and cotter pin? Does Thule sell a compatible rack?

The Rhino-Rack 2 Bike Rack # RRRBC045 will hold your Trek Verve 3 in your Outback Wagon 2" Hitch. The bike rack is held in place by an anti-rattle bolt that passes through the bike rack and your Outback's hitch. Once you have tightened the bolt down you will place a clip through the opposite end of the bolt head. In regards to adding a lock for the rack and bikes you would need to remove the factory anti rattle device on the bike rack and add on the Lets Go Aero Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232. For your bikes the Thule Cable Lock # TH538XT would allow you secure your bikes to the rack.

Since the Trek Verve 3 is such a nice bike, the Thule Apex XT 2 Bike Rack # TH9024XT is a great option. Long term I think you will be much happier with this investment to secure your bike. It works with both 1-1/4" and 2" hitches. It locks your bikes to the rack and the rack to your car using the same set of keys and it still has the tilting feature for access into your hatch. Installing into your hitch is easy. The integrated anti-rattle hitch pin and hand knob make this a tool free installation. I have a video attached below showing the features of the bike rack.

The Rhino-Rack 2 Bike Rack is a good bike rack but the Thule Apex XT 2 Bike rack gives you an excellent way to carry your bike and also eliminates the need to pick up all the additional locks that aren't keyed alike.

If you need a hitch for your 2012 Subaru Outback Wagon the Draw-Tite Class 3 Max Frame Receiver Hitch # 75673 is a good hitch for hauling bike racks. I have attached a video below for the hitch.
