Mounting plate Dimensions for the Pro Series Jack # PSEJ10000101 to Mount on a LAK Sailplane Trailer

Question:

I am considering the following Jack Stand: Pro Series Trailer Jack - PSEJ10000101 I want to mount the above on a foreign trailer actually a LAK sailplane trailer model T-5. The current jack stand is bolted onto a bracket that is welded to the trailer tongue. What I am interested in knowing is the dimensions of the bolt pattern for the above jack stand to see whether I can bolt it onto the bracket that is already welded to the trailer tongue.,Great diagram—a perfect explanation of the hole pattern. A further question: Is it possible to mount a larger wheel on this jack stand. The airfield I operate out of is a grass field. An 8 to 10 inch wheel would be best in the grass (smaller wheels tend to sink in when jacking, then are hard to move). If not this stand, there is perhaps another stand with a larger wheel that you can recommend? My trailer, although quite long (30 ft), is not very heavy. The GVWR is only 1650 lbs. Thank you again.

I went out to the warehouse and pulled one of the Pro Series Snap-Ring Swivel Jacks, # PSEJ10000101, to measure for you. I added dimensions to a photo I took of the mounting plate for you to use to see if the mounting pattern will match up to your mounting plate on your LAK sailplane trailer model T-5.

The overall dimensions of the mounting plate are 6-3/8 inches by 5-1/2 inches, and the bolt hole pattern is 4-3/8 inches on center for the outer most holes, 3-3/8 inches on center for the inner most holes and 6-1/2 inches apart from one set of holes to the other. The photo mentioned makes these dimensions much clearer, see link.

I went and measured from the wheel axle bolt on the Pro Series Trailer Jack, # PSEJ10000101, and got 3-11-16 inches to the nearest point if the wheel fork, see photo link. The next larger size wheel available for trailer jacks is an 7 inch wheel, which would have a 3-1/2 inch radius and need some room to turn and for wear. Also a replacement wheel with larger diameter is not available for this jack, and a larger wheel for another jack would most likely be a different width and would not fit the fork or axle properly. So a larger wheel would not fit. I do have some options for you though. We have dual wheel jacks, and jacks with larger, 8 inch diameter wheels. I will link several of them below. If you can send me the dimensions of your mounting pattern, and trailer tongue, I can check the different options you are interested in and make a more accurate recommendation. I would select the Fulton F2 Swing-Up, Wide-Track Trailer Jack, # F1413040134, with larger diameter and wider wheel, if the soil at your airfield is clay or hard packed dirt, and if the soil is soft or sandy, I would select the Fulton F2 Swing-Up Trailer Jack with Dual 7 inch Wheels, # F1413020134.
