Video Transcript for Pro Series Snap-Ring Swivel Marine Jack Review and Installation

Jake: Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look and I'm going to show you how to install the Pro Series Marine Trailer Jack. This is going to be a great replacement or if you're building a trailer and you need an option for a good jack to put on your trailer to be able to get it on and off your vehicle. This is going to allow you with this swiveling wheel on the bottom to be able to tote your trailer around without your boat loaded. Here's an example of something that can happen if you forget to put your jack up before you take off. This customer had a wheel that was bent so they needed a nice replacement along the same style and weight capacity of their old one. As you can see here, the kit will come with a bracket and the mounting hardware to be able to mount it on your trailer. Our trailer does have the snap marine mount here still available for us to use, but if it gets damaged when you're jack got damaged you'll have the brackets and everything to put your jack in place.

The bracket and the bolts are going to be able to fit trailer tongues 3" X 5". The jack is going to have a weight capacity of 1,000 pounds and have a nice zinc plating coating on it to help resist against rust and corrosion. It is going to have a side crank on it rather than the top crank. It's going to be a lot easier to get that leverage you need to get your trailer up in the air. It's also going to have a nice grease cirque on the outside which is convenient so that you don't have to pop the cap off to be able to grease the gears on the inside. The jack itself is going to have 10" of travel, so that's more than enough space to be able to get it from vehicle to vehicle.

If you have a taller vehicle and you needed to go to a shorter vehicle, here you're going to be able to do that. From the bottom of the wheel to the top of the jack when it's fully extended, it's going to be 23". When it's fully retracted, it's going to go all the way down to 13" for storage. Your wheel diameter is going to be 6" and have a width of 2", and it's going to be a nice hard plastic material to be able to roll over concrete easily. Now we'll put the jack in the stowed position. You want to make sure you do this every time you haul your boat.

You'll want to crank down. Today we're just using a jack as our example hitch. Once you see that the wheel is loose from the ground, you don't have to crank it up all the way. You turn it to the side until it clicks into place. Now what I like to do when hauling the jack, I like to take a little strap and strap the turn handle up to the trailer so that it's not swinging around. So in my personal opinion, I really like this jack because of its simplicity, it doesn't have a bunch of complicated parts.

It's light in weight so when you're installing it it's going to be easy to hold into place while you get your bolts into place. It's going to have all the functions you need to get down the road and all the folding function, which is nice to get it up and out of the way.Now that we've gone over some of these features, let's go ahead and show you how easy and quick we can get it installed. To start our installation, we want to start by removing our old jack, you'll need to locate where your snap ring is at. See our two ends are here and here, and here we have a snap ring pliers to be able to easily remove it. There we go. I will set this to the side. Now we can take our jack and pull it off. If you're using your old mounting point like ours here, we have a weld mount. You'll need to remove the snap ring and then slide the jack over it, put it on the ring, and then put your snap ring on. There we go. Now it's all good to go.To install it with the included hardware you'll need to slide our bolt through and then attach our brackets on the back side. And now we can thread on our nuts. Now once we have our bolts in place, we can go ahead and tighten everything down with a 9/16 socket wrench. And once you have all your hardware tightened down, you're ready to load up your trailer and hit the road. With all that being said, that's going to do it for our look and installation of the Pro Series Marine Trailer Jack.

Good product overall with two small exceptions 1) The mechanism for transition the leg from vertical to horizontal is a little sticky (from friction), and I've almost banged up my hands a few times moving it. \ 2) When the wheel is off the ground you need to hold onto it while lower/raising, otherwise it just spins. Despite these small issues I really like it, Great (very tight) fit, no signs of rust or degradation of mechanisms from being submerged. I would still recommend this product. 726259

This product is high quality and well made. I looked at similarly-priced tongue jacks at physical stores here, and found cheaply made jacks of lighter-weight materials. So this was a better product at a great price. I am very pleased with etrailer and will purchase from them again. 722665

Bought this Sidewinder jack for my utility trailer but needed it more for my logsplitter. I'll get another one for the trailer. Couldn't be happier. Unit is well made and the swivel option is ideal for most applications. 114480

Because of low trailer clearance I keep bending the original trailer jack. So the second sidewinder cured that problem. I also bought the hand wench, it is also made with the same heavy duty construction. These folks are easy to work with and have quality products at very reasonable prices.

Easy install to provide greatly improved unhitched trailer handling. This item was the final component to complete a refurbished trailer for my catamaran. My project started with a 1987 Calkins single-axle used trailer, adding the following E Trailer parts: 1. Miro-Flex Trailer Stop/Turn/Tail Light unit 2. CE Smith V-Wing Bolster Brackets 3. Rectangular Trailer Reflectors, Adhesive Mount - Amber 4. Erickson Hide-A-Hook Truck or Trailer Anchors 5. Pro Series Snap-Ring Swivel Marine Jack and completed with a hand-built frame assembly and covered bunk boards. 109785

The jack and several other items that I ordered online were delivered to my house very quickly (two days). The jack was easy to install and worked as advertised. I mounted the jack on a CE Smith 48810 trailer ("trailer in a box"). The jack will make moving the trailer around a snap. Very pleased. Highly recommend. It should last for years. 501065

  • Replacement Cap for Pro Series 1000 Trailer Jack
It sounds like you want the cap for the Pro Series Snap-Ring Swivel Marine Jack - Bolt On - Sidewind - 10" Lift - 1,000 lbs # PSEJ10000101. For that you will want the Replacement Round Cap for Pro Series and Fulton Trailer Jacks # PS500322. This fits the 2" outer diameter round tube on Pro Series 1000 and Fulton 1000 trailer jacks.

  • Does Capacity of Trailer Jack Relate to Total Weight or Tongue Weight of Trailer
The lifting capacity of a trailer jack like the part # PSEJ10000101 that you referenced is relative to the trailer's tongue weight. So the part # PSEJ10000101 has a 1,000 lb tongue weight capacity which would work well for your current trailer as it most likely has a fraction of that as tongue weight. Since your trailer has an A-frame jack on it currently the part # DL22530 might be the better choice for a replacement as that is what this style of jack is.

  • What to Consider When Choosing a Replacement Trailer Jack for a Triton Boat Trailer
The first thing I would consider when replacing a trailer jack is the capacity needed. The Pro Series Snap-Ring Swivel Marine Jack, # PSEJ10000101, has a capacity of 1,000 pounds. We carry similar jacks with a capacity of 800 pounds on up to 1,600 pounds. Next you will need to determine if you want a bolt on or weld on. The jack you have referenced is a bolt on. • How to Pick Out a Trailer Jack for a Boat Trailer
The best way to pick out a jack is to pick out one that has enough capacity to handle the tongue weight of your trailer. Most likely you would have a tongue weight of 1,000-1,500 lbs.
