Can Leveling Scissor Jacks, # UF48-979002, be Used to Level a Class C Motor Home

Question:

I have a 24 foot Class C Motorhome. Will your Husky 1300 pound levelers work for some lifting to level the unit ? I dont plan lifting the wheels of the ground , just the full length of the suspension travel front and rear as needed. How much effort is required to rotate the crank when the weight is on the jack, will a cordless drill and socket work ? I had some cheep China levelers without a ball bearing in the lift screw, you could not turn it. soon as some weight was on it Thanks !

According to Husky, the Leveling Scissor Jacks, # UF48-979002, are designed for recreational vehicle leveling only and should not be used for lifting or changing tires. It sounds like you just want to get your RV level so the combined 13,000 pound capacity of each jack (6,500 pounds each) should work well for this application.

Husky also states that only the included hand crank should be used to raise/lower the jacks, so I cannot recommend using any power tools to operate them.

I went out to the warehouse in order to do some testing for you and the jacks are heavy, well-constructed units. We did some lifting tests with weight on the jack. If the jack is fully compressed and there is weight on it, it is hard to turn the crank.

However, after we expanded the jack a little, it was much easier to turn. Since it would be mounted on an RV frame, the jack will have to expand some first before it gets a load on it, so it should be easy to turn. Testing was done with 290 pounds on the jack.
