2006 Nissan Frontier - Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class II - Efficient

  • Plate-Fin Cooler
  • With 11/32 Inch Hose Barb Inlets
  • Standard Mount
  • 11W x 5-3/4T x 7/8D Inch
  • Derale

11" Wide x 5-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep, efficient heat exchanger will prolong the life of your transmission and improve its overall performance. Specifically designed for Nissan Frontiers with late-model, electronic overdrive transmissions.

Features:

  • Prolongs life of transmission
  • Improves overall performance
  • Prevents heat-related failures
  • Has furnace-brazed aluminum construction and 3/4" wide turbulator plates for more efficient cooling
  • Includes complete mounting kit, OEM spec hose with stainless steel clamps and Insta-dapt radiator adapter
  • Recommended for small to mid-size trucks and SUVs

Specs:

  • Inlets: 11/32" hose barb
  • Overall dimensions: 11" wide x 5-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep
  • Distance between inlets: 10-1/4"
  • Mounting dimensions: 4-1/2" tall by either 5-1/2" wide or 6-3/4" wide
  • 1-Year warranty

Note: The Derale Insta-dapt radiator adapter fits most vehicles with 5/16" transmission lines, but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation.

One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

1998 Lincoln Mark VIII

Have a 1998 Lincoln Mark 8 w/ 4 speed automatic which retails for no less than $ 4000.00 - Having this potential monkey on my back , I decided to invest in a trans cooler. Fabricated mounts and bolted on , used double flare connection to cooling line w/ barbed fitting ; barbed fitting @ radiator fitting. Used 2 hose clamps @ cooler, one clamp on each barbed fitting . Could only mount with fittings to left ,fluid leaves radiator , enters cooler @ top ( to reduce pump load ), comes out of bottom & returns to tranny. No trans temp. guage, but cooler gets hot @ idle, verifying cooler works . Well constructed and sturdy, easy to mount ; comes with instructions.

Product still working flawlessly no signs of rust or corrosion ,mounting is still secure , no leaks

It’s been almost a year since I installed this transmission cooler. I would say it’s gone without a hitch, but THAT would be inaccurate. I also installed a hitch! I placed great confidence in this transmission cooler to do its job as my 2015 Honda Accord V6 served as my truck during our move this past year. Never a problem (ok, I’ll say it... It went without a hitch!).

etrailer customer service was EXCELLENT! There was a question during installation that arose from my particular model of car having a Transmission Fluid Warmer that in effect made identification of the transmission outlet and inlet reversed according to the instructions. The technician actually read and considered what I was saying, instead of just assuming the instructions applied to my vehicle. Thanks to their input, I correctly reversed the directions and got the correct solution!

BTW... I attached some pics of the correct hose routing for the 2015 Honda Accord V6. Note how you simply remove the short hose shown in the first pic, and connect the hoses from the transmission cooler! Note that I mounted the transmission cooler vertically so the hoses would reach. The last pic is showing the transmission fluid warmer (just as an FYI).

I installed this transmission cooler about a year ago. Install went easy but I did have The bumper off as I was replacing the radiator. I think my temperatures are down by about 15°. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that I probably could’ve used a larger one.

I now have had the cooler installed for 2 yrs. Works great. Recently was towing up a long grade, about 6 miles, temp stayed in a decent range the entire climb, even at a reasonable speed.

2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek

Although the website said this fit my car, it didn't. etrailer is good if you don't have to return anything. I've done a lot of business with them and have been satisfied but when I had to return this the return shipping was a third of the price of the item. Not good.

I am not sure as to how the installation was attempted however the manufacturer does show this to be a fit for a 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek with a 2.0L H4 Engine. It is specifically designed for Subaru XV Crosstreks with late-model, electronic overdrive transmissions. The radiator adapter that comes with the kit will fit most vehicles with a five sixteenth transmission line but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation. The label that we send will allow the part to be returned via UPS ground. Using our label is not required if you have a way of shipping it back that is more economical. You will just want to make sure that it is trackable.

Dodge Grand Caravan

I was lucky enough to have Etrailer install this on my Grand Caravan (they made a video). I drove 800 miles towing a 6x12 enclosed trailer with NO problems. It kept my transmission cool towing through the mountains. I have towed smaller trailers with the minivan that made it shift strange. After installation, all better.

by:

Very easy to install! Installed on a 2014 Toyota Sienna. Installed lower right quadrant. Make sure you have an extra hose clamp to complete the installation ( if you are using the insta adapt as a hose slice) very good design!

by:
2015 Nissan Rogue

My CVT performance has benefited from it greatly! It was overheating causing shuttering & delayed response when accelerating from a full stop after being ran for many miles in hot ambient temperatures.

2003 Honda CR-V

I found etrailer.com on random search in the internet after we bought our CRV and started researching hitches. U-Haul, whom I use often I use often and like very much, wanted $400 for the hitch, harness and transmission cooler. I found all three on etrailer for $200, and they delivered it quickly (and I mean quickly) and it wasl well packaged, etc. I figured I was a handy person, and thought how hard could it be? Well not only where the products high quality, the instructions clear and easy, they videos are a life savers for people who do better "seeing" a process, rather than "read" about a process. The hitch took me 20 minutes, the harness 20, and the Transmission Cooler about 45. Thank you etrailer for the pleasent experience, I am already going to order a few accessories for ouu CRV, and guess where I will be buying them! In case is was unclear, etrailer all the way.

2004 Oldsmobile Alero

Product was as described on the website. Installation took a few hours - no where near as easy as shown on the installation video - to install on my 2004 Alero. The challenge is that the upper line transmission cooler line is the line you have to route the cooler hoses to and mounting the cooler and getting the lines routed up to the top of the radiotr houseing required removal of the front bumper, loosening the radiator mount (from below the car - there are two wing nuts) and then CAREFULLY drilling a 11/2" hole in the plastic molding that completely covers the front upper portion of the radiator. Then you can route the hoses through the hole. I bought the optional GM fittings and that made connecting the hoses very easy.

by:
2011 Toyota Tacoma

Kept my truck transmission from overhea ting

by:

I did not install this trans cooler myself. Installer said the supplied hose clamps were somewhat weak, and one broke during install. So far, seems to be working well, but it is still winter in Wisconsin and the hot weather/trailering test is yet to come.

by:
2005 Honda Pilot

Great product and the install on my 2005 Honda Pilot was fairly easy. The only thing I needed was additional hose line.

by:
2011 Nissan Rogue

The cooler itself fixed my Nissan Rogue limp problem completely fine, the installation was annoying, but nothing I didn't expect from it. The only problem I had with this product was that the hose that came with the kit was not long enough for both the return and arrival lines, I had to go to a local auto shop in order to get another hose to complete the installation.

by:
2014 Honda Odyssey

Works great! Pulling at 18’ camper with my Honda Odyssey with no problems.

by:
2006 Pontiac Grand Prix

My tranny fluid was running hot on my 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP. The transmission on these cars is known to not be able to handle the power of the engine too well so I wanted to do anything to help it out. I had this cooler installed to supplement the factory cooler.

I am not towing anything so a large cooler isn't a necessity. So far, this cooler is working as I expected, keeping the fluid below 200 degrees with the temperature outside above 100! Though a larger cooler would probably get the temp closer to where I'd like it, there is not much room in the engine compartment for something much bigger on my car.

by:

The product arrived in a timely manner and was as advertised. The product included all hardware needed to install it onto the vehicle. The only problem I had was identifying the transmission lines and determining which line was the hot side and which was the return side. This was no reflection on the product, but more detailed installation instructions would have been nice. The installation videos on the website contributed greatly to my decision to purchase the product.

2001 Buick Century

Installed the Derale 8000 because my 2001 Buick Century would shift hard when it got hot outside. So far i've driven it a week and it's been shifting smooth. The Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter installed easily with no leaks. I suggest getting extra hose. Needed another 12" to complete.

by:

I have used etrailer for many products and goods. They have excellent products and information specific for your vehicle.

by:
2015 Subaru Forester

Looks like its well made but hose is only about half of what I will need as this does not just enhance the build-in cooler but must be connected all the way back to the transmission from in front of the radiator. Install will be in a 2015 Subaru Forester 2.5i.

by:

Only reduced my temps by 10-12 degrees.

by:
2001 Chevrolet Venture

Great product Easy installation, with adapter fitting

by:

Durable and seemingly good cooling capacity. No leaks and finish is still intact after a year of use.
