TracRac Base Rails

TracRac SR Sliding Rack Base Rails

The TracRac base rails provide the foundation for this unique, customizable system. No-drill, stake-pocket installation yields securely mounted rails that sit atop your factory side rails. Each rail has 2 tracks for maximum adjustability.

TracRac Sliding Rack

Because the rack section at the front of your truck bed mounts to a different T-track than the one in the rear, the sections can be moved so that they are right next to each other. The result is unobstructed access to your truck bed and improved aerodynamics when you are not using the rack.

TracRac offers accessories that are designed to mount in these tracks. Base rail tie-downs (sold separately) give you additional cargo-management options. These rustproof, aluminum tie-downs slide across the rails for optimal placement and are secured in place with the turn of a knob.

TracRac Slotted Crossbars

The sturdy aluminum crossbars on all TracRac truck racks feature integrated slots for mounting and easily adjusting accessories, such as the included load stops. These slots appear on both the top and bottom of the bars for the ultimate in mounting versatility. Like the pieces that mount in the base rails, these accessories also have quick-release knobs that let you loosen and tighten them with a mere twist of a knob so that they can be positioned as needed along the bars.

A built-in trip strip at the front of each crossbar shields the slots from wind, maintaining the aerodynamic quality of the bars and preventing that annoying whistle you often find with slotted bars.

Included Tie-Downs

TracRac Load Stop Accessories

Included with your TracRac SR are 8 tie-down accessories. The 4 load stops are designed to mount in the slots of the crossbars and slide along them for quick, easy adjustment. These bookend-style pieces help to hold ladders and lumber in place on the crossbars. They also have built-in loops for securing tie-down straps.

TracRac ARC Side Cleats

The 4 cleats attach at any of the provided mounting points along the outsides of the upright supports so that you can tie down items that require additional anchoring or that sit in your truck bed.

Sturdy, Rustproof Construction

The TracRac base rails and rack system, as well as most TracRac accessories, are constructed of durable, lightweight aluminum. Because aluminum is lighter than steel - the material most often used for truck racks - only a small percentage of your truck's cargo capacity is taken up by the rack itself, enabling you to pack on more weight than you could with a steel system.

Even though aluminum is already rustproof in itself, TracRac has taken the extra step of adding a dual powder coat finish to further protect your rack. The electrostatic powder coat (e-coat) clings to the metal surface better than traditional paint finishes for a more durable covering. The second coat is a clear finish that adds extra shine and protection from scuffs and scratches.

This is the second trac-rac I have owned and have had one for the past 18 years.
The flexibility it allows is is fantastic. Would not own any other ladder rack

This is a high quality product. The parts are all well made, and most everything is either stainless or aluminum, so it should last a long time. I bought it because my Kargo Master Pro-II was rusting up badly in only about eight years.

Assembly isn't easy. Takes lots of time to get the rails level and evenly spaced, needs to be near perfect for the uprights to slide easily. And, there are just a lot of parts to put together. Assembly took a little longer because the instructions didn't match the kit in one area. The manual tells you to pre-assemble a bunch of fasteners, but then you realize that your parts don't have slots, like the instructions expect, but rather holes instead. So, the parts needed to be unassembled, then reassembled again, this time through the holes. No biggie, but it added to the time necessary.

Be nice if the clips up on top could be easily removed when not in use. They look strange, and add height to your truck.

I only ordered two of the tie-downs with the rack, should have ordered four so that shipping would be free. They are expensive, but nice.

They didn't suggest it in the manual, but I think it would be a good idea to use anti-sieze on the hardware, I'm a little worried about galling down the road when disassembly is necessary. Stainless is prone to do that.

In summary, though, this is a dang nice rack! I don't regret the purchase at all.

2006 Ford F-150

I have been planning to buy these for years. Now that I finally bit the bullet, I'm quite happy with the product. Installation was simple and straight forward and the flexibility of the rack is great.

At first I had hoped to reuse an old rack that I bought on CL with new base rails and cantilever extension from etrailer. While the old racks still worked with the base rails, the cantilever extension package didn't interface properly. I ended up opting to buy all new parts for the sake of simplicity. I'll put the used rack back on CL.

I did have some problems with the order initially due to incorrect parts being in the package, but customer service at etrailer was top notch and everyone I spoke with was helpful. We ironed out the problems and etrailer sent out new parts immediately. What could have been a frustrating experience was turned into a slightly prolonged but easy process of getting a great rack on my truck. Thanks!

Product came fast and it was as expected. Assembly was not too difficult and I was able to have it on the truck in an afternoon.

We've been really happy with the Thule Sliding TracRac, and have made some unusual modifications. We wanted to mount it outside/around a camper shell, so we needed to mount the rails outboard of the truck bed (aluminum "shelves") and figure out how to make the crossbars longer (bought a third crossbar and connected extension sections by making three-holed t-slots nuts and using round aluminum tubes). None of this sanctioned by etrailer or Thule, of course. See photos, which also show an adaptor I made to mount a Thule square bar above the TracRac crossbar to use existing Thule accessories.

Past 20 years I've used Rack-It truck racks. They're solid steel, eventually rust and took two grown men (and an extra set of nuts) to remove them from the truck. Great racks. Just way more than what I need the older I get.
However I wanted something that could easily be removed (by myself), if needed, and was aluminum. I bought these, as well as the extension cantilever, and it serves my needs as a general contractor. It supports my 24' walk plank just fine. The only thing I have to be creative to transport is full length rebar. If I transported rebar all the time, this rack would not be my first choice.
At the time of my purchase, there was not a specific rack for my GMC AT4. So I simply measured the bed of the truck, bought one with a similar measurement, and modified the drilling holes to work.
Lastly, I didn't want a silver color rack on my black truck. While you could get the racks in black. You could not purchase a black cantilever. So I simply had all the pieces powder coated black.
Honestly, I get a lot of compliments on it. Because no one else has one like it.
I'm very happy with it. It's perfect for the occasional ladder, walk plank, or 16' piece of lumber. I've had it mounted for over a year now, with zero problems! I remove it weekly to go through the car wash, and throw it back on in 5 min or less when i get home.

DO NOT TRUST THE ADVICE GIVEN BY THE SO-CALLED EXPERTS AT ETRAILER. This rack WILL NOT fit the Carbon Pro Bed...I was told by 2 different "experts" that this rack would fit my 2023 Sierra w/the Carbon Pro Bed, since this rack mounted to the stakebed pockets and not to the underside of the bedrail. After receiving my order, I prepared to install the rails and cutout the front stakebed pocket covers which is required to do the install (also indicated by Kevin C. from ETrailer). As soon as I got to step 3 of the rail install instructions, I knew there was a problem. The instructions indicated there was a hole on the inside of the bed to secure the rear stakebed pocket adapter to. There is no hole or any other type of access to any of the stakebed pockets on the Carbon Pro Bed. So, now I have altered bedrails and have a rack that does not fit. It is completely irresponsible of the "experts" at Etrailer to provide information or direction that is not true or hasn't been confirmed.

Just installed this last night sobs true rating is hard to do. With that said it is definitely good quality very tight with no wobble! Hope it works like I want with removal for trips and going through the car wash. Keeps the truck looking pretty sharp compared to the traditional ladder racks!!

etrailer.com is an outstanding company. I purchased a Thule system in January. Due to logistics (my fault) I tried to install the system in April. Three of the attachment arms were incorrect. I contacted Ashley of etrailer, the sales representative who sold me the system, who patiently listened and after receiving the needed photos and explanation, etrailer sent me a replacement system. The new system was installed and the truck is ready to go. Ashley's professionalism, communication skills, product knowledge were excellent. Ashley and etrailers' commitment to solving my issue expeditiously puts etrailer in a class by itself.

by:

Very heavy duty ladder rack that does not "whistle" while you drive down the road. Easy install overall, and it is very easy to install and remove the racks as needed after the original install. At the time of purchase this was not available for my vehicle with a short 5.5' bed, but with very minor fabrication the rails for longer beds fit perfectly. I have recommended this rack to several people since purchased a year ago.

by:

I did install the Thule TracRac SR. I did it on my own and it went well.
I'm really pleased with it.

As for the photo, I will send you one, once I've washed my truck.
Can't make a photo with a dirty truck.

I will leave feedback later after some time with the rack.

I searched many ladder racks I was unsatisfied till I found this one. It’s beautiful it’s light and it’s versatile. I have a X-short bed Toyota Tundra platinum with a top. With this ladder rack I was able to keep my topper.

by:

Very happy with the rack on my 2018 Silverado. I also have the Back flip hard top bed cover. I am able to open all but the very last position. I might still be able to adjust the rails and to get there but it hasn't been an issue. Used it to haul lumber and I made a bicycle rack that works with the racks and the bed cover down. Works great. Was not hard to install.

by:

Really nice rack. Exceptional customer service from Sherry S. Was looking for something to rack out my truck but not lose bed cover. The sliding rack is awesome. Can move it forward if bed room needed. Came back and ordered some additional accessories (self retracting ratchets, pads for crossbars, storage bag, tie down loops. Quality is top notch. Seems pricey, but when compared to other racks isn’t really all that bad when you are getting grade A product that has versatility. Also keeps the truck looking pretty nice. If I could give 10 stars I’d do it. Just buy it… and buy it from etrailer. Delivered on time, as advertised.

by:

This is a great product and works really well with the Bak RevolverX2 Tonneau cover.
The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because the base track has about a 3/4" overhang at the rear of the bed rails. Unfortunately the bed rails of the 2016 Tundra Double Cab are not square. As you can see from my photos, the front fits flush while the rear hangs over. Besides that, they are very sturdy and installation was simple.
Knowing what I know now, I would still buy this product again.

by:

Couldn't be happier with the Rack, it went together and operates flawlessly. Dealing with e trailer was a snap, I was informed all the way through the buying process of shipping and arrival dates. Will absolutely buy shop again with e trailer.

by:

Fit perfectly. Was a little concerned that it wouldn't work with my bed cover. But it does and couldn't be happier.

by:

Great product! Packaging could be better for the larger pieces (rub marks). My 2018 Ram 1500 quad cab came with some small challenges that I had to solve myself. No videos or written words available. Basically if your bed rails are covered with a bed liner you need to remove the plastic sleeve in the rear stake pockets. Otherwise you won’t get an equal spacing from one rail to the other. You will also need to use the provided rubber tape with the wedges in order to make the rails level. Otherwise it went together great.

by:

Works well

by:

Phillip is a very customer orientated professional who has made my experience a true pleasure. He is very knowledgeable about your products. And knows the difference between models for different trucks and vehicles sizes, including. It would be very beneficial for you to keep an employee like that is well worth having as a sales person.

by:

Well built product. Easy install. Combined it with a Bakflip F1 Tonneau cover. Minus a few minor things they work well together.

We have options for you, but it depends on the bed length of your 2014 GMC 1500 long bed. If you have a 5-1/2 foot bed you would want the part # TH43002XT-608EX. For a 6-1/2 foot bed you would need the # TH43002XT-501EX and for an 8 foot bed you would want the part # TH43002XT-000EX. All the mentioned racks are TracRac ladder racks with over the cab extensions. Since these install on the top of the bed rails they shouldn't interfere with your bed rail LEDs either.

  • Availability of TracRac Ladder Rack with Over-the-Cab Extension for 2011 GMC Sierra
Trac Rac doesn't offer a rack or cantilever that goes over the truck cab that's compatible with their TracONE Ladder Rack System, part # TH91000. For a rack system with the cantilever, you'd want to go with their SR Sliding Ladder Rack # TH43002XT-000EX for the long bed model or # TH43002XT-501EX for the short bed (6-1/2 foot bed) model.
