Are you tired of carrying a bulky ring of keys - for your hitch lock and coupler lock, your pickup cover or trailer door, and all the various padlocks securing your equipment? Tired of fumbling for the right key or having to replace a lost key?
BOLT (Breakthrough One-key Lock Technology) has solved that problem by designing a line of locks that can operate with a key you already have handy - your vehicle ignition key.
When you insert your own key into the cylinder, spring-loaded plate tumblers move up and down until they are matched exactly to that key. The first time the key is rotated, the cylinder is uniquely coded to that key. When the key is removed, the cylinder moves into the locked position. When the key is turned again, it will rotate to the unlocked position.
BOLT is particularly useful in commercial applications. Imagine being able to send a crew without having to sign out multiple keys for a work truck, trailer, hitch pins, and equipment locks. With BOLT, the vehicle key becomes a master key. It opens all those locks and you no longer have the hassle of getting to a work site only to find that you've brought the wrong keys.

Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over the line of Bolt Trailer Hitch Receiver Locks. So our Bolt Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock is actually offered for multiple hitch sizes. We have options for both the standard two inch receiver and the smaller one in a quarter inch receiver. Now the one in a quarter inch receiver is gonna use a half-inch diameter hitch pin. And then the two inch receiver is gonna use a 5/8-inch diameter hitch pin, but that's pretty much the only difference between those two. So you may be asking yourself why you want a locking hitch pin.
So nowadays with our trucks being taller and taller and having multiple trailers, these adjustable ball mounts really has taken over the market. They allow us to tow many different trailers. They're really a great add-on to your truck. Now, one of the things though is that these are very expensive. A lot of these are a couple $100 even on the low-end scale.
So having something on the back of your vehicle here that could easily be taken off with just a standard hitch pin really doesn't lead for the best peace of mind. If I paid a couple $100 for a ball mount there, I wouldn't want let somebody just come up and take it off the back of my truck. And unfortunately this does happen quite often because again, these things are very valuable and you could easily sell them. So, we need something here that can actually secure this to the vehicle, so somebody just can't come up and run away with our ball mount that we paid for with our hard-earned money. So this is where our hitch lock is gonna come into place.
So, there plenty of different locking hitch pin options on the market. This certainly isn't the only one, but this one is very unique. And how it's unique is that it's actually gonna use the key for your vehicle's ignition. So if you're like me, I'll get out my keys here for you guys, but I hate bulk and clutter in my pocket. I hate having tons of keys.
I have a very minimalistic key chain here. I have a key for my safe, my house keys and my truck keys, and that's pretty much it. So, not having to carry extra keys for your hitch pin lock whether you're gonna have to keep track of those keep 'em on a separate key chain or just having extra bulk in your pocket. It's really a game-changer for me. This is actually my personal truck and this is what I chose personally out of all the different hitch lock options we have here at etrailer. So one of the biggest common problems and complaints we get of customers using the hitch lock that requires separate keys is that they lose those keys. Because let's face it, those aren't necessarily something that we keep track of every day. Where is our ignition key The keys for our truck we certainly do. So, the level of importance of those keys there isn't that high, and therefore, they unfortunately do get lost. Now I know what you guys are saying to yourself, "Oh, I'm not gonna be that person, I'm not gonna lose them." But unfortunately it does happen. A lot of people just throw them in the glove box of their truck. They could get lost, misplaced there or maybe you just can't find them, or a lot of people keep 'em in their house. So, whatever the case is there, having a key that, you know, you're gonna have on you at all times when you're in your vehicle there is really a game-changer there for that hitch pin lock. And it's the reason I personally chose this. So if you like most people, you have a nice ball mount say the BMW tow and stow, for example, this ball mount actually has a unique feature in that it's actually designed to be stowed on the vehicle even when you're not towing 'cause you can actually flip these hitch balls around. Therefore, you're probably gonna have your hitch lock secured at all times. You're not necessarily removing this when you're not towing. So the issues that can lead to with other locking hitch pin is that water gets up in there, corrosion gets up in there, and it actually seizes the lock core to where you'd actually have to cut the lock off. I certainly hear of this quite often. So, with this one here, I don't really think you're gonna have those issues because number one, when I first got this out of the box and I was just messing with it, the lock core has an extremely tight fit here on the hitch pin. They have a little rubber seal inside there and it took a considerable amount of force to even put that on there. So, I definitely don't think that there's gonna be any water that gets in there or corrosion because again, it just has a nice tight and solid fit. So something else you'll notice just looking at the hitch pin, as you can see we have quite a bit of excess usable length. So the reason they do that is, is because you can actually use this trailer hitch on trucks that have a two inch receiver, a two and a half inch receiver, or a three inch receiver because it seems today they just keep getting bigger and bigger. So, having that extra usable length there is gonna ensure that your hitch lock is compatible with your hitch. So we do have a nice dust cap on the end of our lock core there. It's also got a little lanyard on there so you're not gonna lose it. And this is just another form of protection making sure we don't have any water or dirt and corrosion get in there and seizing up our lock core. And also looking in there earlier, there's actually some grease in the lock core there, which is again, really, really helpful here when you add that inside there, just to keep the mechanism nice and loose there, so water doesn't get in there and cause any seizing up 'cause that believe it or not, is actually kind of a big issue for some of these hitch locks, especially when you leave 'em on the vehicle for an extended period of time. So overall, we have protection at the key in, we also have protection at the pin in there due to that really nice tight fit there with that rubber seal and gasket on there. And the pin is actually made outta stainless steel. So that's not gonna rust either. So BOLT does actually provide a weight capacity for their 5/8-inch diameter hitch pins. I really don't think you guys are gonna have any issues with this. Just to simply relay the information to you, the gross trailer weight rating there for the hitch pin is gonna be 16,000 pounds. And the tongue weight rating is gonna be 1600 pounds. So something you will notice that when you're using the, when you're using the lock core here it actually has sort of a spring-loaded tumbler or whatever you wanna call that meaning when I turn the key and I let go, it goes back to its normal position. Therefore, it's gonna automatically lock. You don't need to make sure, you don't have to worry about whether it's in the locked to the unlocked position, because as soon as you take your key out it's gonna spring back there to the locked position. So in summary, I really like this hitch pin locking option. It's gonna give you peace of mind that your ball mount isn't gonna be stolen from the back of your vehicle. It's also gonna give you peace of mind that your lock core isn't gonna seize up due to water getting in there because of the nice weatherproofing done with this. And then greatest of all, you don't have to worry about losing your keys and having your accessories stuck on the vehicle there because it uses your ignition key. So there we go. That's gonna do it today for our lock and installation of the BOLT Trailer Hitch Receiver Locks..

This 5/8" diameter receiver lock codes to your vehicle's ignition key. Made of automotive-grade materials and nearly impossible to pick or bump, this corrosion-resistant lock helps keep your ball mount safe and secure.Ordered this for my new Pathfinder. Worked like a charm! Love the fact that I don't need another key to keep track of with this unit.
I bought 2 for each the shank and adjustible ball. I love em! The one funny thing is, for the spare key that we rarely use, it barely fits in. So, likely you'll want to use your newest key.
Great quality product. Keyed easily to my ignition key. Cheap quick shipping, great customer service and follow up.Looking forward to long term use of this locking pin.
These are awesome so far! One key to unlock everything eliminates three keys, hard to beat that.
This is a quality product. It is solid and locks securely. A friend made me nervous of similar locks coming loose and the pin backing out, but this one is solid. Plus, one less key on my ring. I would love more products that can be set to my truck key. I like to lock my cargo tray in while I'm in the swap meet for several hours. People steal what isn't locked. Buy one of these, you wont regret it!

This product is good and has not degraded in anyway. It just keeps doing its job.zero issues.
This hitch lock works as advertised. Programing it to operate using my Nissan key was just a matter of inserting the key and turning it until it stops. Warning: This is a one time thing. Once it is programed for your key it can only be opened using that key or keys just like it. Meaning all the keys for my Nissan work but you can't change it to accept a different key.
Buying from etrailer is always a good experience.

After 1 year of use the hitch pin lock is still working great.
I bought the BOLT Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock from etrailer.com... I've used the Bolt products before and love the product. I was quite pleased with etrailer.com as they shipped the product and had it delivered in a timely manner. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again...
Great lock, keyed to Nissan key and worked like a charm. I initially tried to order this from Am*z*n, but they sent me the wrong lock two times...eTrailer processed the order and sent me the correct lock the first time around, and as always, the followed up with me to make sure I was happy with my purchase and that I received it as promised. Keep up the great work eTrailer!

Still working like a charm after a year! I even bought a padlock for my boat box that uses my Nissan key and it is just as great.
Be aware that etrailer's guidelines for review prevent me from explaining my rating. I could give you the good and the bad, but not if I follow the company's guidelines which are slanted to control what potential customers can learn about the company's service.
Beefy and successfully coded to my 2018 Nissan Titan key. Easy to lock and unlock.

Still works great, very convenient to be able to use my trucks key to unlock. Everyone who has a hitch and receiver should have one!
This lock is awesome! One key for truck and bolt lock. Solid construction all the way around! Very convenient!
I hardly ever leave my hitch in when I’m not towing, but it’s great to have a lock for those times I forget. Very convenient to have the lock keyed to the truck key. Love it.
ORDERED THE LOCK AND IT WORKED GOOD. TOOK IT OFF AND PUT IT BACK ON AND I GUESS I DIDNT SEAT IT RIGHT, AND IT FELL OFF GOD KNOWS WHERE. ORDERED A NEW ONE AND I MAKE SURE THAT ITS ON RIGHT. BUT IT IS NICE THAT THE TRUCK KEY FITS THE LOCK.
Good solid lock and coding it to your existing key is as easy as sticking it in the lock and turning until it clicks. Now I don't need to carry additional lock keys with me, as it uses my factory Nissan car key.
It worked perfectly to my surprise. There were no hassle using my key to imprint on the lock. Very Nice !
Product looks hefty and quality made. Arrived as indicated. Keyed easily to my Nissan key.

Great to have a locking bar that uses my ignition key. One less key to deal with! Highly recommend!
This is a great product. I have one on my Ford Truck, my wife's CRV and got one for my daugther's Nissan. Nice not having to find the key.
Couldn’t be any easier! Awesome to use one key for multiple purposes.
Got the product, read and followed directions, and it works.
excellent product, this is my 2nd purchase. Beware of "3 day shipping", I paid extra for that, and order took 5 days to arrive.
Everything I have bought from you guys has been great and fit just right Wade

Have been using this for a year now and I cant say how much I have enjoyed simply using the vehicle key to manage my hitch lock. I have shared this with many camper owners and all were impressed with it.
