Today on this 2006 Lexus RX400h we are going to be installing part number 13530 from Curt. The first thing we need to do is remove the under body trim panel on the driver side of the vehicle to where we can remove the tie down hooks on both the driver and passenger side of the vehicle. We are going to be removing the four Phillips head screws along with the plastic rivets located in the bumper trim panel. We are also going to be removing the plastic rivet on the inside towards the spare tire. Now we are going to remove the tie down hooks on the passenger and driver side of the vehicle and set these aside because we will no longer be using this hardware. 00:44
Now we are going to show you the attachment points for our hitch. It is going to be the same on both sides. We are going to use three existing weld nuts on driver side frame rail. Two here at the rear and one further up from the rear of the vehicle. Now we are going to hold the hitch up in position. It is best to have a second set of hands to help maneuver around your exhaust. Now that we have our hitch in position we want to tighten and torque down as specified in the instructions. 01:21
Now we are going to take a couple of measurements for you to ensure the clearances for your hitch accessories. From the center of the hitch pin hole out the edge of the bumper is going to be approximately three inches. From the ground to the top of the receiver tube opening is going to be approximately 15-1/ 2 inches. This will conclude the installation for part number 13530 on this 2006 Lexus RX400h.
