PSI Rating for ST205/75R14 Load Range C Trailer Tires
Updated 11/10/2015 | Published 11/09/2015 >
Question:
The trailer is around 5000 lb and has 2 axles4 tires what tire pressure should I be running at? We are planning a long trip and tire wear will be a factor as well as highway speeds.

Helpful Expert Reply:
Trailer tires should always be inflated to the maximum psi indicated on the tire sidewall. This is because trailer tires are built with a thicker sidewall than passenger vehicle tires to handle more vertical load. If under inflated the thicker sidewall generates excessive heat and can lead to failure.
The 205/75-14 load range C tires we carry they are all rated for 50 psi.
The tires probably have a speed rating. There should be a letter code on the tire usually after the size of the tire. If you do not see a letter code or a miles per hour indicated on the tires then the safe bet is to travel no faster than 65 miles per hour.
