Capacity of Clamp-On RV Bumper 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver # S64025 with Anti-Rattle
Updated 03/10/2010 | Published 03/08/2010 >
Question:
I was wondering how much weight this hitch can hold? I need to carry a 55 lb bike plus the bike rack on the back of my camper. Also does this mount require and drilling? Thankyou

The limiting factor is not the capacity of RV bumper hitch # S64025. The main issue is the capacity of the bumper. You will need to contact the RV manufacturer to find out the specifications for your bumper. Also, you will have to be certain you have the right bumper, as this hitch is designed exclusively for 4 inch by 4 inch continuous-welded steel bumpers. This adapter is not compatible with aluminum or spot-welded steel bumpers. There is no drilling required, as the hitch slips over the bumper and is tightened down with the included u-bolts.
A better option is to install a frame-mounted hitch onto your RV. We have both bolt-on and weld-on models in various frame sizes. You just need to know your frame size and then find the hitch that fits. I have provided a link to the RV hitches below.
Not all bike racks are rated for use behind a camper, since they would receive a great deal of sway, but we do offer a selection of racks that are approved for this application. You can view them at the link provided, as well as some additional information on choosing the right bike rack for your setup.
