What is the inside width of the 1/4inch safety chain link? Can I put a 1/2inch diameter bolt through it?

Expert Reply:
I went out to the warehouse and measured the inside width of the Laclede 27" Long Safety Chain with 7/16" Hook, part # 2118-605-04, that you referenced. The link's inside width is 1/2". I also tried to put a 1/2" bolt through it and found you cannot.
Check out the picture I made at right.
For a safety chain with links with an inside width of 9/16" that will accommodate a 1/2" bolt you can use # 1483-535-04.
