Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 08/01/2025

Question:

I have a question about your axles. Im looking at the 6000lb axles you have.. you have the etrailer brand for a lot less and then say the dexter brand for more money.. Whats the difference between the two? is the dexter worth the extra money?

Hey Dave, thanks for reaching out. Our etrailer brand axles are made by a company called AxleTek. They make a lot of OEM and aftermarket parts for trailers. The main difference between those and the Dexter are the Dexter axles are made here in the USA while the AxleTek are not.

In my opinion, they are extremely comparable quality wise and if you take the stickers off they are virtually identical. We sell a ton of our etrailer axles, and we have even used them on a few of our trailers here at the shop. Personally I would go for our etrailer axles every time, but I am the kind of person who always try's to get a job done for the lowest cost.

If you are someone who feel strongly about buying products made here in the USA, and are willing to pay a premium for those products, the Dexter is for you. There is definitely something to be said for the quality of stuff made here in the USA, but when it comes down to it, an axle is an axle.

Was there a specific length of axle you are looking for? What kind of trailer is it going on?

Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Hey Dave, did you decide which axle to go with for your trailer? I'm curious to know what you chose and how it's working out, as it could help others make a decision too.
