Does Thule Cargo Cargo come with Crossbars, Make Noise on Roof, Resist Water

Question:

Have a 2011 Sportwagon. Does the system come with cross bars that attach to my rack or do I need to get those from the dealer?. Can you hear the wind resistance of the unit at 65 mph. I assume it is water tight.

The Thule Pulse Alpine Rooftop Cargo Box, part # TH613, which you reference, does not come with crossbars. It sounds like you have factory rails so to complete your roof rack system I recommend the Thule WingBars roof rack system, parts # TH711200 and # TH710401. These crossbars are some of the quietest bars on the market and do not sacrifice strength. I have included a video of this rack installed on a different vehicle for you to check out. The installation is the same as with your Jetta. The bars are also available in black using # TH711220.

Most rooftop cargo boxes are not water tight. There are small voids in the floor of the cargo box around the mounting clamps.

One pleasant feature of the Pulse cargo box, # TH613, which you reference, is that the center of the cargo box is raised. This will allow water to pool in the lower sections toward the front and rear. There are no holes in the lower sections. Check out the short video showing the interior of the Pulse cargo box for you to check out.

If you put anything on the roof of the vehicle it is going to make some noise. However, the new design of the Pulse is made with reduction in noise and wind drag in mind so it is going to be one of the best boxes if noise and drag are a concern.
