Are Thule Roof Cargo Boxes Compatible with Yakima Round Crossbars

Question:

I yes I have 48 in yakima round roof rack bars and I am trying to see if thule or any other brand other than the Yakima cargo boxes would fit on them

If you were to use a Thule cargo box like the Motion XT # TH629806 then yes, this box is compatible with a Yakima round bar roof rack. Sometimes the mounting hardware that comes with roof accessories will require an adapter to fit different style of crossbars though. The Motion XT is an excellent cargo box that requires 51-1/4" for rear hatch clearance (see attached picture) so if this is compatible with your vehicle I highly recommend going with this box.

The 48" Round Yakima Crossbars # Y00408 (or any of the Yakima round crossbars) have a 1-1/8" diameter and are compatible with the vast majority of cargo boxes out there. I can't quite speak to every other brand cargo box out there, but the 1-1/8" diameter is the standard.
