Customer Advice for Installing Wiring to the Optronics Taillights part # ST9RB
Published 09/24/2014 >
Question:
Dear Mr. Expert: Just suggesting that more detailed instructions on how to hook up small gauge conductors from the existing trailer tow vehicle to the proper connections in the light fixture. In my experience, a multi-stranded gauge 16, 18, or 22 gauges are difficult to push into the slotted brass retainers inside the fixture. Actually, these gauges should be solid copper to provide enough stiffness to push open the stiff retainer slots in the fixture. Thus if might help a lot if the fixtures came with the appropriate electrical leads, say 6inch long to be nutted to the existing tow vehicle wiring leads. When I installed the new fixture, I cut several short leads from solid copper conductors and it helped a lot otherwise I gave up trying to push a limber multiwire through the tiny fixture holes. I hope this makes sense to you and theres no charge for the advice. Thanks,
