Question:
Do I need the 1182525 for a 2014 Nissan Xterra? It does not have a tow package. I have tried the C55441 and everything but the running lights work. I now know that is a common problem on the Xterras and Frontiers, but I cant find any info on the 2014

If your 2014 Nissan Xterra was not equipped with the factory tow package, the port where you plugged in your 4-pole trailer connector, part # C55441, will NOT be fully active. There is a jumper harness and relays that are needed to activate the tow package.
The Curt # C56225 that we offer includes the 4-pole that plugs into the connector along the driver's side frame rail alongside the spare tire, as well as the jumper harness and relays. The relays plug into the jumper harness, which plugs into a connector located in the toe kick on the passenger side.
I have linked you to an install video showing the jumper and relays being installed on a 2011 Xterra. The procedure for your vehicle will be identical.
