Does External Antenna Have to be Used for Swift Hitch Back Up Camera System SH03
Updated 08/29/2014 | Published 08/28/2014 >
Question:
Under what conditions is the extension antenna required for the Swift Hitch SO3 camera? One camera has a short antenna and the second has the extension with 9foot cable. Will the camera work in the back of my 40foot horse trailer with living quarters without this extension antenna? I would prefer not to have to permanently mount this antenna on the outside of the trailer.

Expert Reply:
The camera with the short antenna for camera system # SH03D has a transmission distance of 200 feet if the path from the camera to the monitor is unobstructed. A 40 foot trailer should not be a problem. The second camera and the antenna would allow you to put the camera where it would otherwise have the signal obstructed but you do not have to use it. It does come with a shorter antenna as well that mounts directly to the back of the second camera.
